Last night at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne we celebrated the opening of The House of Dior – 70 Years of Haute Couture exhibition. To be invited to preview the exhibition, which features over 140 couture garments from the seven Dior designers, was an “OMG” moment for us.
And what a way to see the exhibition alongside fellow guests who really did take the dress code “black tie” to another level. Something I don’t think we see often in Australia.
Voluminous skirts, lace, feathers, lots of sparkle and the men really did push the boundaries. And as to be expected many guests embraced Maria Grazia’s newest collection mixed with vintage Dior pieces. All of us milling along side one another taking the exhibition all in and somewhat emotional at what we saw in front of us. The history, the art, the craftsmanship and those moments we had seen in pictures and never dreamt we would see in reality.
If you are thinking of going – it really is a must see. Make sure you also visit the gift shop….the Dior candles are perfection.
